Clue: “Steely and black, a bridge beside a bridge, over no water it goes. From here can you see which way the river flows?”
Did you know…?
The Dickens Inn on Marble Quay is named after famous Victorian writer, Charles Dickens, who wrote stories about life for poor people in Victorian London, such as Oliver Twist and Scrooge. In 1845 Charles Dickens helped support and fund an Arctic rescue mission for the crews of two ships – the HMS Erebus and the HMS Terror. Unfortunately, the sailors never made it back from the Arctic and probably froze to death.
Today, the Arctic is home to 4million people and an amazing amount of arctic wildlife (including the polar bear), but the sea is getting warmer and more acidic – which is damaging a lot of sea life.
