London’s treasure chest

The Ivory House, built in 1858, stands proudly as the sole original warehouse in St Katharine Docks today. It beautifully blends history and modernity, having been lovingly restored in 1973. Now, it hosts a delightful mix of shops, restaurants, and luxurious apartments, all boasting breathtaking city views.

Known fondly as the Ivory House, this warehouse earned its name from the vast quantities of ivory that once passed through its doors. During its peak in the 1870s, nearly 200 tons of ivory were handled here annually, totalling almost 4000 elephants. In addition to ivory, the warehouse also welcomed a variety of other luxury goods, including perfume, shells, and wine, which were stored in its expansive basement vaults.
